Oh, I’m there. But unfortunately, it just doesn’t come up very often, especially here in New England. And especially with kids. But there was a time…I remember being with my girlfriend next to a lake, and not only was it raining and the perfect temperature, but it was the most dramatic thunderstorm I’d experienced, at least outdoors. Yes, it was a very, very good thunderstorm!

But one thing I just noticed recently — and I can’t believe it took this many years to notice it — there’s hard rain and soft rain, and it’s not about the quantity of what falls, but about the speed that it’s coming down. The other day it was raining, and the rain was *soft* — not light, but soft. I think the clouds must’ve been low, so the drops didn’t have as far to fall. Or something. It was really coming down — I got soaked in very short order — but it was just so pleasant, the way it was falling so softly. Not a pelting rain. It was just absolutely delicious. And I was thinking — mmmmm.
