Still ill. Had to work all day, like a normal person, but am really feeling it tonight. I always think that one day down should be plenty – but here again it turns out that three weeks of running around like a crazy woman can’t be undone in one day. It’s going to take a couple days, maybe several days, of more serene, quiet living to get back on track. And the in-between ain’t glamorous, I can tell you that. I’m a phlegm producing machine. My face is breaking out. It’s as if the illness is taking every available exit – and while I’m all for that – jeez louise, it’s not pretty.
So today I did get a nap, which I’m sure will be helpful in the big picture. I drank a lot of water, ate a lot of citrus, took echinacea, avoided dairy, ate greens and tried to stay low energy. Not counting my one flight of fancy, wherein I decided what I really need is a new pair of sunglasses for the upcoming holiday weekend. This involved me driving to the mall, going to the LensCrafters, discovering I had left my prescription in the car, walking back and forth to get it, trying on frames (which always gives me a headache), realizing my prescription was over a year old, trying to get an on-the-spot eye exam, agonizing over transistion lenses, prescription sunglasses, or clip ons and whether I wanted a new pair of day to day glasses, too… Yes, this is how I chose to spend my two hours of “downtime” today. You can guess how the story ends: The glasses I left with were the ones I wore in. Trying to decide on a several hundred dollar investment (even with the coupon!) while feeling ill is a bad idea. Impulsively trying to decide on glasses in an afternoon under pressure to get them in one hour so you’ll have them for your date the next day is a bad idea. Especially when you remember that you have insurance, and that with a couple of phone calls you could make an appointment, go and get some personal attention, and get glasses and sunglasses for FREE. I wish I were running a fever. At least then I could blame my madness on that.
