Busy, busy, busy! I understand make hay while the sun shines, but I have got to pace myself better than this or I’m gonna end up sick. The body is a powerful thing, but it’s counting on some good sense running the show. If I can’t factor in some down time it’s just about guaranteed my body will make its own, and I’ll find myself down for the count with some dreadful cold or flu.
I did get some good self care in today after all, a fantastic and much needed massage. I had no idea how superficial and unfulfilling my past massages have been until this evening. Lunch today was a bowl of udon noodle soup at Hama Sushi in Herndon – a cavalcade of prizes in a bowl – several different seaweeds, spinach, exotic mushrooms and half a boiled egg bobbing around in there. Side salad was an unimpressive pile of iceberg with a redeeming and very energizing ginger dressing.
Dinner was a pleasant surprise – seldom do I put off dinner until 9pm, and my choices that late are usually pretty poor. Tonight I stopped in at Hunan Manor off Fort Hunt Road, desperate for some steamed dumplings. I was thrilled to find they serve the elusive brown rice, and they were happy to hook me up with some of that, some dumplings and some steamed broccoli. It was exactly what I wanted and it really hit the spot. A cup of peppermint tea and I’m ready for bed. I did devour the two fortune cookies I found at the bottom of the take out bag, and even though I know they’re devoid of nutrition, they had a hint of lemon and made me very happy. My fortunes were good, too – apparently there is joy all around me and I will be successful in my professional career. The cookie said so. It must be true!
